Conversation with world-class experts
11/29/2019
Supported by Wyeth Nutrition Science Center Hong Kong (WNSC HK), the Post Graduate Program in Pediatric Nutrition (PGPN) Symposium and Convocation 2019 was held on 5 November 2019 (Tuesday).
We are honored to have world-class experts, including Dr Carine M Lenders* from USA, Professor Liam O'Mahony from Ireland and Professor Ting Fan Leung from Hong Kong, to join us for the night. At the symposium, training was conducted on various approaches of nutritional education and counseling (e.g. appropriate language of communication, assessment tools, etc.) to facilitate the daily practice of physicians and other healthcare professionals. Experts also delivered lectures about the role of gut microbiome in immune development during childhood with evidences on the association of microbiota and dietary metabolites with risk of allergy diseases and clinical application of emerging microbiota-directed strategies for treating and preventing allergic diseases in a local setting.
It was a remarkable success as the first PGPN symposium supported by WNSC HK with over 240 healthcare professionals attended and celebrated with 8 PGPN graduates from Hong Kong, we look forward to the next symposium.
*Remarks: Dr Carine M Lenders is Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Boston University School of Medicine; Director, Division of Pediatric Nutrition, Boston Medical Center
